Doja Cat and Pablo Tamayo reconnect at Outside Lands after past tension
Doja Cat and Pablo Tamayo appear to have moved past their earlier conflict, reconnecting at the Outside Lands festival nearly two months after the rapper publicly criticized Tamayo for overstepping personal boundaries during their initial meeting.

Tamayo recently shared TikTok footage of the two reuniting at the San Francisco event, where he was invited by Doja herself as a VIP guest. One video follows his journey to the festival and shows a member of Doja’s team eventually leading him to the stage during her headline performance, allowing them a brief but notable moment together.
In the video caption, Tamayo wrote, “Doja Cat invited me to @Outside Lands to squash the beef.”
Another clip captures a more relaxed backstage exchange between the two. Laughing beside Doja, Tamayo asks, “How do I smell?” to which the artist replies, “You smell amazing.”
Tamayo also acknowledges her real name during their conversation, saying, “I now know your name is Ami,” referring to Amala Dlamini. “I should’ve known.”
Doja gently responded, “That’s fine,” adding, “And you did not need to know.”
Their latest interaction contrasts sharply with their previous encounter in June, which had stirred controversy online. A viral video from that meeting showed Tamayo hugging Doja, kissing her on the cheek, and removing his shirt to give to her—while also admitting he didn’t know her real name. Although Doja appeared to play along at the time, she later expressed discomfort in now-deleted posts on X.
“I’ll smile at you but it doesn’t mean I f–k w you and don’t touch me and man handle me when you don’t even f–kin know me,” she wrote. “I need to stand up for myself in the moment sometimes. And he didn’t even know my f–kin name to be touching me and kissing on my face like that is crazy.”
In another since-removed post, she added, “I threw that musty a– shirt away btw.”
During their recent backstage interaction, Tamayo directly asked if she had indeed thrown his shirt in the trash. Doja’s eyes widened before she responded uncertainly, “I don’t know …” and appeared to walk off.
Tamayo later captioned the clip, “Guys don’t worry we’re friends again @Doja Cat.”
With tensions resolved, Doja now looks ahead to the next chapter in her career as she prepares to release her upcoming album Vie. Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, the artist has shared that the follow-up to 2023’s Scarlet is complete and leans into a “pop-driven” direction.
Soon after Tamayo posted his Outside Lands videos, Doja shared a brief message on X that may reflect her renewed outlook: “It feels good to be kind. It hurts to not.”
